UW as a monk and an 8 man pug doing unwanted guests at the same time as escort souls =) I've only successfully completed that combo w/ a pug once.

fow - booooring unless you can convince the party to go to the dead/burning forest area. never found a pug to clear it yet

I've always enjoyed FoW more because it requires groups that work together. You can have half the group drop off and still make good progress with the remaining people. Of course, all it takes is one bad player to mess it all up.

I spend a lot of time in ToA and I rarely hear of UW groups forming except for the usual SS necro and 55 monk pair and some ranger teams. In FoW there are a lot of eight man groups. UW players rarely form up in large groups.

FoW is boring and rediculously long. Heh heh!
I think Underworld is pretty fun though and I like to do that.

I don't play either because there is no point whastoever to those areas unless you are doing small-party Ectos or Shard farming groups.

In others words, playing those areas normally "as intended" with 8 men and doing quests is pointless, so why bother?

There have been many threads over the months saying that UW and FOW need to be given an actual point to playing in them, yet as of now there still isn't one.

questing in UW with a full man balanced team (no 55'ers etc) - the only part of PvE I actually enjoy.

The point is ectos and shards. The point of ectos and shards is to buy Obsidian Armour, a vanity set of armour. Or sell the ectos and shards to players that want them to buy their FoW armour.

Or a spider pet from UW. Basically, a vanity pet.

So unless you need to get this armour or a spider, the only reason to explore here is to rack up experience points or throw expensive keys at chests.

I don't think there needs to be a 'point' for playing UW or FoW,apart from having fun playing a challenging area. I like UW, just because its perfect for 3 man trapping group.

FoW, because I can farm it solo with my warrior much easier than UW.

Yes I realize everthing you have said but when you look at it past the surface level then some serious deficiencies with the UW or FOW become noticeable.

What I was trying to say was:

- If you enter UW or FOW with 8 men you get almost no Ectos or Shards, maybe even zero. Therefore entering UW or FOW with 8 men for Ectos or Shards is pointless.

- You can get experience way, way, way faster and easier by doing repeatable Faction quests than you can by doing Underworld of Fissure quests. Therefore entering UW or FOW for quests or experience points is pointless.

- You don't get anything for beating all of UW or FOW therefore there is absolutely no point in doing so.

Therefore, there is no absolutely no reasonable motivation to play in UW or FOW as the devs intended - with 8 men in a party trying to progress through the quests.

FoW I usually find I get more loot and more fun out of it. UW scenery is boring and it seems like the same thing over and over and is just very boring to me.

/FoW

ADDED: Navaros remember that Guild Wars is only a game and people enter these places for a challenge and for fun not only to gain something out of it. And yes in FoW with an 8 man group shards are very abundant from what im used to, you may have gotten unlucky.

FoW as backup ranger with dual/punishing, or primary ranger with barrage. I just love spiking those stupid heal monks with dual/punish.
